It's *Always* a Problem: It's Just Harder Not to Think About It Right Now

Can't say much today. JoePoz is probably the best writer in the business (whether the business is blogging, sportswriting, baseball writing, Snuggie commentary, you name it), but yesterday he wrote what I think is one of the best pieces he's ever written in exploring the fundamental unfairness that is the Yankees payroll.

I'm going to refrain from comment, because I know a lot of great Yankee fans and don't want to get myself in trouble. They're a great team. The best in baseball. Their fans should be happy. I don't blame the Yankees for exploiting the system, I blame the system.

And there's nothing wrong with the game, not really. It's fine the way it is -- the causes are a little different, but the effects are that it's essentially the same way it's been for the last ninety years. But things that are "fine" usually have a lot of room for improvement.
